What is a bypass level indicator?

In a communicating bypass chamber mounted to the side of a vessel a float moves with the level of the medium to be measured. The magnetic field of the radial-symmetric positioned in the float at submersion height activates the magnetic roller display attached to the outside of the bypass chamber as well as the switching and measuring elements.
